Does my medical insurance cover my eye exam?

In many cases medical insurance coverage does cover eye exams.  Medical insurance is used in our office frequently.  It will cover your eye exams when there is a medical reason for your coming.  These medical reasons could be for things you might know that you have like cataracts or suspicion of glaucoma.  You may have a family history of macular degeneration.  You may have dry eyes or a scratched eye or allergic eyes.  There are many many conditions that will be somewhat covered by your major medical plan.  Our office accepts many major medical plans.

They don’t cover the cost of glasses unless you have had cataract surgery.  You want to preserve your vision.  Have your eyes examined once or twice per year to ensure your eyes are not deteriorating.  Don’t wait until you feel like your vision has changed and you think you only need to go when you need glasses.  Many people have lost their vision thinking that way.  Schedule An Appointment!
