Baby Boomers Take Note!

macular-degeneration-782[1]Macular Degeneration is on the rise.
“The National Eye Institute estimates there will be three million people with age-related macular degeneration by 2020.” The boomers were born from 1946 to 1964 and will comprise one of the largest segments of our population. Vision exams at your optometrist’s office may detect this sight threatening problem. Our office uses specific vitamin supplements to protect the pigment in the macula, which is what breaks down and causes loss of central vision. Year round polarized sunglasses are also suggested to anyone who is outdoors more than 15 minutes, because UV radiation causes macular degeneration and cataracts with vision loss. Once there is central vision loss, there is no treatment. Have your eyes examined by your Optometrist yearly. 901-763-2020 Dr. Warren Johnson| Dr. Do Nguyen| Dr. Burt Bodan
